QUESTION:
When I try to select a digital file for the game, the game video file that I just created does not appear as a choice. What happened?

ANSWER:

  1. FireScout requires the DV-AVI file format. The file type will be Video Clip. If your video files are in another format, such as .wmv, you will not see them as a choice when selecting a digital video file in FireScout.

To capture video files in the DV-AVI format using Windows® Movie Maker version 1, verify that the Record Settings are as follows.
    • Open Windows® Movie Maker.
    • Select Options from the View menu.
    • Verify that the box labeled Automatically Create Clips is not checked.
    • Click OK to close the Options Window.
    • Select Record from the File menu.
    • Verify that in the drop-down list labeled Record, the Video and Audio option is selected. If it is not and Video and Audio does not appear as an option, the computer may not have recognized the media converter. To rectify this, restart the media converter.
    • Verify that the box labeled Record time limit is not checked.
    • Verify that in the drop-down list labeled Setting, the Other option is selected. In the drop-down list that follows, verify that DV-AVI is selected.

You are now ready to capture DV-AVI video. Verify these settings each time you wish to capture video for FireScout.

  2. Depending on how your digital video file was created and copied to your computer, you may find the file in the "My Documents" › "My Videos" folder. You can browse to this folder from your desktop to see if this is where the video file is located. If it is located here, copy or move the video file into the "VS2002" folder.
